How Shoe Size Conversion Works

Shoe sizes are based on foot length, but each region uses a different scale and starting point. US, UK, EU and China (CN) sizes all describe the same foot with different numbers. Our converter uses foot length in centimeters as the common reference to translate between them.

Example

A men's US 9 converts to about UK 8.5, EU 42.5 and CN 42.5 — all fitting a foot roughly 27 cm long.

Measuring Your Foot

Stand on a piece of paper, mark the heel and the longest toe, and measure the distance in centimeters. Measure both feet in the afternoon (feet swell during the day) and use the larger one.

Men's vs Women's Sizes

For the same foot length, women's US sizes are typically about 1.5 numbers higher than men's. EU sizes are unisex.
