Discount Formula

Savings = Original Price × Discount% ÷ 100

Final Price = Original Price − Savings

Example

A $80 item with a 25% discount:

  • Savings = $80 × 0.25 = $20
  • Final Price = $80 − $20 = $60

Frequently Asked Questions

Multiply the original price by the discount percentage divided by 100, then subtract from the original price. A 25% discount on $80 saves $20, making the final price $60.

30% of $150 is $45, so the final price is $105.

Apply them one after another. 20% off then 10% off $100 gives $100 × 0.80 × 0.90 = $72, not $70.
